After a successful trio of events in Queensland and Newcastle, the 2008 Human Australasian Pro Bodyboard Tour will head South to the infamous Victorian town of Warrnambool on May 24th and 25th.

Last year the venue dished up the best conditions on tour and an army of competitors will be converging on the Holiday hamlet for the two day event with high expectations. Locals Jarran Milne and Zeb McKinnon believe that the conditions are shaping up well and that as long as the swell and winds combine the banks are as good as ever and will dish up the goods.

For those flying into the event the best way to get there is with Jetstar via Avalon [Victoria]. Only Jetstar use Avalon Airport and it’s a lot closer to Warrnambool - about an hour and a half by car. Otherwise there are buses that go from Avalon Airport to Warrnambool. There is lots of accommodation within close proximity to the contest area and there is a backpackers for the budget conscious.

The Victorian State Titles will also be run in conjunction with the event. This event will determine the Victorian Team for the Human National Titles to be held at Port Macquarie from 15th to 21st September.

Michael Novy had a dream start to 2008 with an impressive Hawaiian campaign. He secured a semi final finish in the IBA Pipeline Pro and was a clear standout during the countless amazing late season sessions - one of which earned him the cover of Movement 23.

Not long after touching down in Australia from The Rock Novy found himself in South Oz on an Agent18 trip with Jake Stone and Glen Thurston. He is currently hanging out on the South Coast of NSW and gauging from the images landing in our email Inbox over the past few days, the waves have been pumping!

This is a short web interview with Novy.

It seems South OZ is the destination of choice for Bodyboarders right now. Nick Ormerod spent a couple of weeks in the desert with Ryan Hardy, Chris James, and Harry Dixon last month and came home raving about the place.

Nick finished fourth behind Mitch Rawlins, Dave Winchester, and Eric Metcalf – first, second, and third respectively – in the second event of the IBA Australasia Pro Tour, the Rheopaipo Pro at Duranbah, in late April. The Gold Coast / Northern NSW has been blessed with “best ever!” waves ever since and he has been a standout during the all-star sessions going down along the coast.

Kingy has been unusually busy in the Bodyboarding world of late. He just returned from a 4Play road trip and is planning a mammoth two month trip stretching from Victoria to WA later this year.

Tom Smith [above] will join Kingy on the aforementioned trip. He has been laying low, reveling in the all time conditions QLD has been enjoying over the past few weeks. Manta recently announced that a Tom Smith Signature Model will be included in the 2008 range due to be launched soon.

WA transplant Mitch Woodland returned home to Margaret River after spending the past few weeks back on the East Coast visiting family and friends, partying, and competing in the first few events of the IBA Australasian Pro Tour.

In between the madness, he managed to score some fun waves during his stay. “Despite the seediness of the place, Newcastle provided the goods the other day for Rod [Owen – photographer] and myself, getting some nice shots.

“I’m back at Margs [Margaret River], waves look good, so back into the filming and hopefully some more shots and an excuse to stop drinking with my mates [laughs]!”

Mitch has been filming with Dan Nicholls and West Matteeussen of Claws and Teeth with the intent of scrapping together enough footage for a section on their next film due out later this year.

Claws and Teeth are geting the job in WA, head on over to their blog and have a sniff at what they're up to Down South.

Being the front man for Australia’s hardest working band isn’t easy. Following a short holiday to Japan with his girlfriend, Winston McCall is back on tour in Europe with Parkway Drive. The sold out tour with Bury Your Dead and Suicide Silence is PWD’s second European Tour this year.

Winston and PWD will return to Australia in May ahead of an Australian Tour in June with Have Heart, Antagonist, and Break Even.
