Bodyboarders Surf Co. are proud to bring round six of the 2008 Human Australasian Pro Bodyboard Tour - the BSC Avalon Pro - to Avalon Beach on 17th - 19th July.

With Mitch Rawlins leading the Tour and a few riders chasing his tail it is sure to be an intense battle to clench those crucial points. Not only will there be Australia’s top riders competing, but also many IBA World Tour competitors will be in town with the Human Shark Island Challenge set to go ahead any time between July 1 and July 20.

Kingy Update. “I got bullshit waves in WA last week, three days out at that left [the left featured in Tommy Smith’s most recent Manta ad] 10-12 foot. Mickey [Smith] shot and Riptide are doing a feature. We also scored that right [the same right Brad Hughes, Chad Jackson, and friends dominate] at 12 foot. I flew back to Sydney last night, competing in the Trials tomorrow.”

Mitch Woodland will be taking a break from racking up footage and photos Down South in WA and heading back to the East Coast next week for the No. 6 Brett Young Trials on 27-29 June.

Novy did a stealth in-and-out mission to Victoria this week with Dallas Singer, Chris James, and photographer Phil Gallagher. They scored – again! “That’s my third time down there in a month,” he laughed. If this keeps up, it won’t be long before he will is granted Local status in the Southern States.

Across this vast country that is Australia, it’s not always possible to get phone reception. As a matter of fact, the last we heard from Kingy is that he was still in the desert and slowly making his way across to WA. “We have been getting some pretty sick footage and the waves have been pumping,” he claimed. “I have found two new waves which are insane!"

On the back of the recent launch of his first signature model with Manta, Tom Smith just keeps going from strength to strength. He has been invited to Japan as the special guest of the Manta Emotion Cup on 26 and 27 July. "We have arranged to get Tommy to Japan to compete in and be the face of the Manta Emotion Cup," said Reon Fisher, Manta Head Shaper. "This is to not only help promote Manta but help promote male Bodyboarding in Japan. Tommy should be living like a rock star over there," he joked.

Nick O has been busy slugging away at his Uni exams over the past couple of weeks. He will join Kingy, Novy, Tommy, and Mitch in the No. 6 Brett Young Trials next week.

With an expected field of 130 riders from nine countries competing in the Trials the heat draw is gonna be stacked with Big Wigs from across the world. The 12 highest places will move through to join the IBA top 16 and four wildcards in the Human Shark Island Challenge 2008 from 1st June to 20th June.

Novy is back home in Queensland after another lengthy period on the road. He scored Luna’s a couple of weeks back and then flew into amazing waves in South OZ before heading back to Victoria for the Human Australasian Pro Tour event. Everywhere the kid goes he seems to luck into cracking waves, he has even spent the past three days lapping up good waves on the Sunshine Coast!

Nick O has also been busy of late. In between studying at University, he has managed to find time to chase the many waves on offer around the Gold Coast / Northern NSW recently. He is currently hanging out Down South in WA with a who’s who list of Bodyboarding big wigs including Ryan Hardy, Mitchell Rawlins, Amaury Laverne, Pierre Louis Costes, Glen Thurston, Sean Virtue, Brendon Backshall, Michael Honeybone, Adam Leuhman, and our very own Margaret River blow in, Mitch Woodland.

Tommy Smith just returned from South OZ after pulling the pin on a road trip through the desert with Kingy that has been nothing but drama since the beginning. The last we heard Kingy was still getting feral somewhere in the South Australian wilderness.
