to see for yourself. Tommy Smith and Nick O landed back in Australia earlier this week after a couple of weeks floating around the Mentawii Islands. "It was really good", Nick claimed. "Good waves and a good crew. It kinda looked a little bit grim for a few days but the last three or four days of the trip we got a few really good sessions!"
Nick managed to bring these happy snaps home with him. Want more? Check out up coming issues of Movement Magazine for the full story. Kingy has been a busy guy of late. "I have been flat out. I bought a house last week and have been doing renovations." He flew out to Spain over the weekend to compete in the Moviestar Pro on August 15 - 19 before venturing to Portugal for the SIntra Pro on 22 - 26 August. Novy has bailed South America but not before coming to grief on the Chilean reef. "I hit the reef real hard and cut my face under my jaw, had to get four stitches. I twisted my ankle also, got knocked out, bruised my chest and shins, then got stung 100 bucks at the hospital!" Fortunately, he is recovering quickly and will join Kingy at both European IBA World Tour events in Spain and Portugal. While Novy pulled
the pin on Chile, Mitch
is still living the South American dream. "There hasnt been a great
deal to report on lately. The Contest Director didn't even put me in
the draw [for the Arica Challenge] so I had to start in the Trials.
I made the Trials, got through to the 2nd Round then got knocked. I
could have definitely made it further, had I maybe had a bit of experience
at the wave. The first time I surfed the place was in my first heat!
[Laughs] But I'm so keen for this place next year, the wave is built
for bodyboarding! 02/08/07 Nick O and Tommy Smith [below] jetted off on an impromptu Indo mission earlier this week. They will spend the next two weeks drifting through the Mentawii Islands on a boat alongside Max Arent, Brad Hughes, Chad Jackson, and Nick's brother Simon. How's the life?
Novy and Mitch have been chilling in Chile for a little over a week now. The following is an overdue update from MW.
"Chile is going awesome so far, the team [There's No I] has scored some sick waves and it was all smooth sailing until I got struck down with food poisoning. Worst night of my life! But I am recovering now and the waves haven't been that great for the last few days, pretty small and shitty so it's all good! "We are all in Arica now, I think the comp will start in a few days, pretty amped for it!" Following his stint in Chile, Novy will then head to Europe for the World Tour events in Spain and Portugal and won't return until the end of August. << BACK © 2007 UNITE. Clothing Company |
